Reliability is available on a tight budget. With a complete redesign in 2015, which included an independent rear suspension for improved ride and handling, the muscle car landed on our 10Best list, and by 2017 little had changed. As we mentioned, Avalon shares its platform and powertrains with the Lexus ES, so it’s powered by the same 268-hp V-6 or 200-hp four-cylinder hybrid. Available as a two-door coupe or convertible, the rear-wheel-drive 2-series was offered in two turbocharged models, the four-cylinder 230i and six-cylinder 240i. More nimble than the larger 3-series, the 2-series is one of the quickest and most entertaining cars on this list. The sportiest Regal, the GS, was fitted with 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, and unique interior trim.

Since its last full redesign in 2015, the Fit has been one of the more enjoyable cars to drive in the subcompact class. A mechanical twin to the Toyota Avalon, which is also on this list, the luxurious ES is the best-selling Lexus sedan ever. Just don’t expect Tesla-like range and acceleration.
